[Administration] More Headers and Broken Comments

There has been a little bit in the way of work on the backend of things of the site.

More Headers

I’ve finally added some new heroes to the rotating banner across the top of the page. These include some Sen no Kiseki III (finally), a couple of Sen no Kiseki IV, and a few others from other parts of the series as I felt the need to add them in while working on the others.

As a result, the site has gone up from 30 headers in the rotating cycles to 47.

Broken Comments

I’ve been dealing with an issue related to the commenting system being broken. As a result, this may end up with a small overhaul on this part of the system. I will keep people posted with any updates in that area as well.

I will be including both of these updates in the site changelog. Which sorely needs updating anyway….

[Admin] Site Changelog and Projects Page Made Public

Hello, everyone!

Instead of working on the several crack posts that I have to finish, I ended up doing some work on the backend of the website.

I made an attempt to create the exclusionary filter that I’ve been promising for over a year, but the on site experiments for it have failed. As a result, it’s time to go back to the drawing board and try to figure things out again.

But this is also a good jumping point to introduce a page for the site that I’ve been working on since it migrated to esterior.net. This page is where any projects that I am working on for the site will be publicly posted, such as the exclusionary filter that I mentioned above. On this page, you can also see the changelog based on any major updates that have happened on the backend, as well.

If a project comes up that requires funding, the possibility may be opened for regular readers of the site to be able to pitch in directly to funding that feature, and then they will receive credit on the page when the feature goes live.

You can find the page here, or in the dropdown for ‘about this site.’

[Admin] Quick Reminder Regarding User Accounts

As a reminder, I was not able to migrate user accounts over to the new location. You will need to re-register for logins. I’m also activating an additional feature to allow you to comment using logins from various social media sites, but you will still need an actual account to this site to be able to submit theories.

If you need to register for your account, you can from the login option on the main menu, or from here.

[Admin] Welcome to Delicious Crack no Kiseki, Now Hosted on esterior.net!

Welcome to the new home of Delicious Crack no Kiseki!

A New Home

In order to move to a smaller, yet somewhat faster server, on top of centralizing all of the Falcom related websites, I have decided to move the site from the sanctuarycrew.com domain to the esterior.net domain. Here, it will be hosted alongside both Endless History, Geofront, and the archive site for Eidenyaku.

A project for the future may involve incorporating the sites together under one WordPress umbrella, but for the time being, they will happily remain separate, utilizing their own databases and so forth. A user account on one will not transfer over to the others. It will be a huge invasive update to every one of these websites, so I would prefer not to do that until activity on all of the sites begins to slow down a bit.

You can read about esterior.net on the page accessible from the main menu below the header. If anything happens regarding the hosting available esterior.net, please reach out to me via twitter (@omgfloofy), or on the contact form found on Endless History.

A New Editor

During the process of moving the site to its new home, it was also decided that Aliseyun would become one of the site’s editors. She introduced many of the theories on the site, and has been a very helpful part of all of the work on the back end. You can reach out to her on Discord, or via twitter, at @aliseyun.

A New System

The user submissions on the original site worked by filling out a contact form and dropping your theory concept there. This has been updated so that you will be able to have your theories properly credited to you! If you have previously submitted theories and would like the ‘author’ line to show your name instead of mine, register for an account, and let me know. I’ll happily switch your submitted posts over to show you as the author.

If you are not logged in, you won’t be able to see the form when submitting your question or theory on the page. This is, in order to create the post on the site, an account is required to be listed as an author. This will help for in the future if you wish to search for any theories that you, yourself, submitted.

For those who are worried about their contact info in my hands, all you need to register is a username and an email address. That’s it. I also don’t intend to sell your info- and I hope people know and expect that answer from me. Last, but not least, your login info is basically just kept to this site specifically. Because of this new system, the userlist has been wiped clean and you will need to re-register for the site. That can be done here.

A New Future

There are some minor things that are still waiting to be done, but they are also reliant on premium tools that I need money to purchase- and such things need to wait a bit, as they’re not 100% essential.

Some of these things will include a spoiler filtering system. The tagging system of the site will finally achieve its intended use, and you will be able to exclude posts using the tags of specific games, for example. This is still in the works.

Also, once there is more traffic to this site, a new method to display popular theories instead of recent theories will be on the sidebar.

The submission system will also eventually be upgraded to a ‘pro’ version, which will allow me to perform more customization to it. When this happens, you will also be notified of it, but it won’t be an immediate thing.

Last, but not least, there will almost always be tweaks to the site’s CSS. If suddenly something seems a little ‘out of place,’ it might have been shifted by some of the constant ‘under the hood’ work I do on my websites.

And as always, if you run into any issues with the site, please let me know. I will do what I can to fix it right away!

[Admin] Final Steps to Migration

For those who didn’t know, Delicious Crack no Kiseki is about to move to a new home: https://kisekicrack.esterior.net/, where it will share some space and the domain with Endless History and Geofront.

The post migration has been completed, and for the next few days, in order to finish some final touches and get some additional functions running on the site (it is having a big upgrade to the back end during this process!), the submission form and comments will be going offline here. This will be so that there will be no need to do any more migrations now that this step has completed.

I don’t expect this to take more than a few days, or a week, at the most. So the site will definitely be back before Sen no Kiseki III comes out!

There will also be a wonderful surprise announcement on the new version of the site. 😀

Thank you everyone for your support and your patience!

[Admin] What Happened to the Sen no Kiseki III Tag?

The Sen no Kiseki III Tag

There were about 18 posts on here using the Sen III tag, and in most cases, I think it would be an important thing to hold onto, since we’re talking about Sen III predictions in most of those entries.

However, I have also remembered that the purpose of the tagging system is an attempt to filter out spoilers. Having Sen III in the list defeats the purpose before Sen III comes out. As such, I’ve pulled the tag from the posts. Though the tag will stay in place, it will be used when talking about content that is confirmed in Sen III.

As such, there will be a small rework involving that.

User Submission Changes

I’m fiddling with a backend system to change how user submissions work on the front end of the site. This may take a little bit of time, but I will make another administration post once this part is complete.

User Submission Crediting

Like I’m changing the submission system, I’m also changing how the crediting for user submissions work, too. If you want to be part of this new system, you will need to have an account on the site. You can easily create one via this page. Should things work as planned, any users that submit theories and have accounts will also have their name attributed along with the person who eventually posts the submission.

This will help in the future for if anyone wants to see theories by specific individuals. This may also, eventually, change in the future from the regular visitors, so that they don’t have the utilize the general form submission as well. This will eventually lead into a backend scoring system, which can be used to change your access levels based on the number of theories you have posted.

But for now, most of this stuff is going to be manual. I just need to figure out a way to make it work with less hands on activity with it.

[Admin] Welp. That Inactivity Sucked.

Well, then.

I’m alive. Usually any feedback that comes through comes to my email, and I’ve become overwhelmed from real life and so forth. However, I’m in the process of picking up the pieces that was my devastated motivation to do anything and eventually, I’m going to get back here and deal with the crazy backlog of entries.

I apologize for the lateness. If you hadn’t noticed, Endless History and Geofront have been mostly neglected this whole time as well.

I’ll try to make up to you guys for it.

Thanks!

[Admin] Major Backend Update! SSL is Now Active!

Hey, guys! Another update to let you know that a big part of my backend work on the site is now complete. It’s running with SSL, making it a secure connection whenever you’re accessing the site.

As a result, the URL is no longer http://kisekicrack.sanctuarycrew.com – it is now https://kisekicrack.sanctuarycrew.com.

Note on 8/14/2017: These URLs are no longer valid as the site has moved to a completely new domain. This new domain does utilize SSL, however.

It should automatically forward anyone using http to https, though. But if you run into any issues, or if your browser starts complaining about the site not being secure, please let me know- it means I need to fiddle with the settings or the certificate. Or both.

[Admin] Changes Under the Hood and Spam Account Removal

I did some hefty anti-spam work underneath the hood for the site tonight. For the past two or three weeks, bots have been registering accounts at a large rate on the site. As such, I implemented some extra security features to halt this. At the same time, I deleted a huge number of accounts.

If you had registered an account in the past few weeks, it may have gotten caught in this massive purge, and for that I apologize, I scanned the accounts in an attempt to make sure that I didn’t nuke anything legitimate in the process. If you pick up anything, error-wise, when trying to register or make a comment, let me know via the submission form, twitter, or Discord if you’re on there.

Thank you for your patience!
