Enforcer/Legion No.0, Campanella the Fool. A being shrouded in mystery, none of which are close to being solved. Today I’d like to compile two of my theories relating to this ambiguous existence in the hopes of offering a possible answer to one of these mysteries, what is he(or she, another one of the many mysteries).
The Fool’s Pale
Let’s get one of the elephants out of the room, I’m sure most of us have seen this image before. Being depicted here is Campanella’s S-Craft from Ao no Kiseki. Curiously it is named “Salt Pillar (Fake)”, also known as the Salt Pale in English. Now that seems like an open and shut case considering it says (Fake) but lets humor another thought and say our mysterious Campanella has another relation to it. As you all know, on a certain day in a certain year a giant pillar of salt fell from the sky and hit North Ambria. It started a salnification process that turned everything it touched except water into salt. The nature of this pillar has been the debate of many, both in universe and in real life as no one can truly say what it is. Its not a Sept-Terrion, but what if originally it held something inside it? Now many would jump at this and say a Sept-Terrion could be in there, and I’m inclined to agree since the church wanted to collect the pillar for themselves but lets think of something else. What if this spire of salt, was a cocoon. A place of growth of sorts for a being, or perhaps something to guard something that was once tender. I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this yes? I think that from that pillar Campanella emerged, but why? Lets go onto the next theory then, where I hope will explain my reasoning.
The Grandmaster and The Fool
Let us immediately assume something first and foremost, the Grandmaster of Ouroboros is Aidios/Eidos. Are we all on the same page when it comes to that? Good because things are about to get cracky. So we all know that Campanella seems to oddly have an unexplained respect for the Grandmaster, and treats her with the utmost of it whereas he(?) would not do so with others. Now you could say this is just because the Grandmaster is the Grandmaster and everyone respects her, but let me give you another possibility. If the Grandmaster is indeed Aidios like I said we’d assume earlier, then what if I suggest that Campanella is a similarly divine being, a lesser one of course. This strays away from a large amount of theories that exist out there that say Campanella’s a demon, but what if I say he’s(?) the exact opposite. A servant that lives in servitude of the gods, a divine being that not many speak of, an angel. Now I’m sure you’re very surprised at my proposition, I would be too if I wasn’t the one saying it but I am very serious. Now the sole mentions of Angels have only been in 3rd so far, and truly I’m not sure which Campanella could be, in fact its possible that he(?) isn’t one that we’re aware of as yet! But I digress, the reason I thinl that Campanella is as loyal and respectful to the Grandmaster who we assume to be Aidios is because of his(?) status as an angel. A servant to the goddess. Now how does this tie in with the Salt Pale theory? Simple really, the Salt Pale fell from the sky right? So to put it quite simply, the pale fell from the heavens as either something to guard Campanella who may have been weak at the time, or Campanella himself (?) used it as transportation to get down from the heavens in order to assist his(?) master, Aidios.
And with that I end my theory, what did you think? Were you blown off your seat? Or do you think its complete nonsense? In the end the answers may take a very long time to come to the surface, as I for one don’t believe it’ll be answered until the end of the series. But for now, until my next cracky theory, I bid you farewell.
